ABOUT

I work as a Associate Professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

I am a biologist with interdisciplinary expertise spanning ecology, evolution, environmental science, conservation, and biomedical and social research. I specialize in research synthesis methodologies—including systematic reviews, evidence maps, and meta-analysis—to address fundamental questions in maternal effects, aging, sexual dimorphism, and evolutionary processes. My peer-reviewed publications examine these topics through quantitative lenses, and I also develop and refine methods to tackle pervasive challenges in scientific practice, such as data non-independence, heterogeneity, allometric scaling, and reporting biases.

In addition to many meta-analyses, I conduct meta-research on transparency, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the research ecosystem. By evaluating research practices, advancing reporting guidelines, and assessing recognition structures (e.g., awards, authorship norms), I strive to foster more rigorous, open, and socially inclusive science. Through collaborative projects—both local and international—I aim to catalyse systemic improvements in how research is designed, conducted, and disseminated, helping to build a more transparent, equitable, and resilient scientific community.
